Cycle Logistics

“After the pandemic,
we became very lazy
and we want everything delivered at our doorstep. This means more vans,
more trucks, and so
more CO2 in the street.

Stef Michielsens,
Founder of Ciclo Logistica Porto

This video was produced for Urban Mobility Explained (UMX), a youtube channel powered by EIT Urban Mobility, that features a series of short and easy-to-follow videos showcasing innovative practices in urban mobility across Europe and beyond.

Sustainable Production

For this production, we chose to travel by train from Lisbon to Porto instead of using a car. In Porto, we rented a cargo bike, which allowed us to handle the main commutes between our accommodation and the protagonist’s home (8 km apart). Other journeys were made on foot, with occasional use of a ride-hailing service, opting for an electric vehicle whenever possible. This choice enabled us to reduce the project's environmental impact by approximately 92% compared to traveling by car.

66% of the meals consumed during the filming of this project were plant-based.

The choice of accommodation was based not only on its proximity to the filming locations but also on its adherence to certain sustainability criteria, such as the avoidance of single-use plastics and water-saving measures.
